Worldwide climate change so… also here in Thailand. Our old tree is in IC (Intensive Care) now. Suffering of drought.
Were we, about six weeks ago, thought the rainy season started because of several tropical storms and rain showers, it worked out the period we were not on our site there was nearly no rain. Bad for the newly cropped plants, marram grass and our old tree.
It is sad to see the surrounding rice fields full of weeds and the young rice plants getting brown still trying to survive. Farmers suffering.
A bit more than a week after we left the old tree started to drop its new leaves. Happy our brother in law saw it and started watering the tree as far as possible. We think (and hope) it is still alive and, getting intense care again, will be healthy soon.
Tuesday I finally finished the construction drawings for the next stage of our process. Yesterday we went to the Or Bor Tor (Local government construction supervision department) to pick up the paperwork we have to fill in and sign for the request for building permission. We also asked them to have a quick first check if the amount of drawings were complete. Indeed, we learned from our first experience (we think) and we are allowed to submit the request on Monday.
The government is really supporting citizens to improve nature. A couple of weeks ago we got free fish in our pond. Being in Chiang Mai Phatsamon discovered on the internet the Surin Land Development Department offered for free so called Bhumibol (Marram) grass.
King Rama IX (Bhumibol) learned Thai people how to use this grass to stop land erosion (see picture).
Phatsamon already started to plant this grass weeks ago but we ran out of plants.
Yesterday we picked up 5000 small plants for free and will use it around the pond again.
