Plastering finished

25th December, Christmas day, at 5.30 PM all the wanted plastering on the inside of our house was finished. Thailand does not really celebrate Christmas and there are no holidays for this, just a normal Wednesday for working. 

Exactly 7 days it took for three workers from our village to do the plastering. They needed 33 bags of ready mixed Tiger brand plaster (1650 kg in total) to get the job done and delivered high quality work. It's all drying now. 

Next step, after drying, will be painting a special TOA Hydro Quick coating as a primer layer before our next steps we want to do with the walls. 

Except for our friend with his excavator and the people from the electricity lines to our land, these three men were the first we hired in five years. 

We, for them temporarily, tried to be a good employer offering them daily a warm lunch from our 'famous' restaurant in the next-door village, drinks and snacks and beer/a shot Sisip (40 % alcohol drink) at the end of their working day. 

Yesterday they all received a big bottle of Hongtong Thai Whiskey and a tip as an extra 'thank you' and to celebrate the New Year.  

Very thankful they did do this hard job for us (and better for my back after the problems I got two times during our building process already).

In the mean time we worked on making the floor of the veranda with SCG decorative floor planks. We give them already a two layer special coating as a first protection. 

Our dogs now can walk and run around the house already. A new happy experience for them again.

Plastering and much more in progress at the end of this year

Thursday December 19, three workers started with the inside plastering. Two for the plastering and one to do mixing the plaster and do the preparations on the walls. A hell of a job but they deliver, as far as we can see till now, excellent work. 

Next to the Buddha head statue of the labyrinth we installed two concrete rings and replanted the ferns. Daily visitor dog 'Black Bear' likes to water the ferns but the ferns don't like the amount. On the other hand the Bodhi tree behind the statue takes away all the 'food' for these ferns. We hope we solved both problems now and all will do well. 

We installed the electricity consumer unit for the main house and lots of lines for the floor outlets, the induction cooking, hot water boiler, etc., are connected already. On top of the in door walls around the house we installed an electricity 'gutters' to put cables in for the two air-condition units to install, kitchen outlets, bathroom fans, and much more. Easy to always have excess in the future if some malfunctioning takes place.

All inner doorframes are installed and waiting for the doors. We install the doors after the topping of the floor is finished. 

We are working on the outside veranda now. Painting the steel (with a third layer of special anti-rust painting) and floor planks (primer coating) and are installing the painted planks now. Between the steel and the cement floor planks we put a tar 'Duraone' flashing tape for two reasons. First to protect against corrosion. Second to have a better and soft connection with the steel frame, causing less noise walking on the veranda. 

Preparations for tiling the bathroom are made. Leveling the walls and painting a Hydro Quick primer. Tiles and glue already arrived but will have to wait for a while. 

There is a lot of progress in the dog bedroom too. We hope maybe, it will be finished and placed before the end of the year but sure beginning next year. We had to reorganize a water outlet to make place for the dog bedroom to be placed and are ready with that. 

Beginning of January we will order and find a company to manage installing the top layer of the floor. We hope they can start in February/March.

In the mean time we will start with the outside tiling of the house. This has everything to do with the present climate situation. Beginning of March temperatures will be very high again and will make it more difficult to glue the tiles on the block walls. 

The surrounding sunscreens have to wait for installing possibly end of next year as well as the outside stairs to the yoga/meditation sala on the first floor. 

Just this morning we received a phone call that the kitchen furniture we ordered is ready at the factory in Bangkok and waiting to be delivered and installed. Not ready for that yet. They will store it till around March as they promised, waiting for our phone call. 

Phatsamon is working a lot in the gardens too. Trying to make us more and more self supporting with organic vegetables and already raising some first trees for the forest with lake to develop in our adjacent ricefield.

Kitchen tiling and electricity finished, orders, co-drivers, and outside dog bedroom.

Part of the finishing job is to get the tiling and electric socket-outlets and switches for the kitchen installed. So plastering and finishing the floor can be started.

More work than we thought but we managed again. We used TARA tiles, special order, fabricated in India, of 30 x 60 cm. Believe it or not, we ordered just enough. Only one full tile left after all the cutting and gluing. The result (for us) is great. 

After tiling we worked on joint filling with a special, very thin, Weber white filler and, around the windows, a light grey TOA acrylic sealant. After 24 hours drying we had to polish (with a machine) the tiles and joints and just finished that work. 

Because we built a so called 'half-open' kitchen, so connected with the living room, we placed 30 cm wide, 4 cm thick, rubber tree, laminated planks to create a separation.  

As we told before, we give priority to completing the inside finishing work of the house so external workers can plaster the walls and install the flooring because it's to heavy for us (after my herniated disc problem in my back and sciatica in my left leg) to do. 

The electric earthed socket-outlets of the kitchen are 'silver' Luzino. For the hood (exhaust fan) we used our regular Chang brand outlet.

Within a month an "I-Spa" tempered glass shower enclosure (100 x 100 x 200 cm), we ordered for our bathroom connected to the master bedroom, will be delivered. 

We also ordered and transported 37 m2 wall tiles for the bathroom already (the floor tiles we bought more than a year ago and are stored at Phatsamon's mom storage) and hope for this year we got the last big investments. 

Although we did a wrong investment with our Kia Jumbo truck, many times it's also a good help. Especially it gives our dogs lot's of fun. The 'dog of the day' is allowed in the evening to accompany us to the restaurant. And if we need to pick up big or heavy things with the truck, is the one that can be co-driver for the day. 

They really love it. 

Most times, after returning back home, they already see/hear the truck arriving and run to the truck. The 'dog of the day' at that moment is free to walk/run the last couple of hundred meters home. The other two (the puppies do not join yet) at that moment, overwhelmed by happiness, take over the co-driver seat to join and protect 

The new puppies are growing fast to become adult. They sleep outside but their place is getting too small soon. We do not have the time to create an outside bedroom for them ourselves at the moment so, we ordered one at a company in Bangkok. It will be delivered in the second week of January next year.
